Heathcote pupils have the rhyme of their lives celebrating Shakespeare day

Heathcote Primary School have celebrated Shakespeare Day (23rd April) by taking part in a poetry competition hosted by David Wilson Homes East Midlands.

The developer asked for the pupil’s to send in poems that described their homes that could then be displayed in the marketing suite of its Poets Meadow development on Harbury Lane.

Poets Meadow is aptly named because of its close location to Stratford-upon-Avon and as a celebration to the local heritage of the area. The developer wanted to mark Shakespeare Day by hosting the competition and encouraging local pupils to get involved.

A presentation was recently held at the school to announce the winner and David Wilson Homes Sales Adviser Chris was in attendance to award the prizes.Shakespeare Day

The winning entry came from Tanishka in Year 1 for her poem, with the runners up being Benjamin, Ella and Neev.

In addition to presenting Tanishka with a £25 book token, her entry will now be displayed in the marketing suite at Poets Meadow. The runners up were also all presented with £10 book token.

Lara Jeffries, Headteacher at Heathcote Primary School, said:

Shakespeare Day“Our children love to write! How lovely to be able to acknowledge their super skills with this generous award to each of them from David Wilson Homes. We are enormously proud of our poets and their accomplishments and look forward to seeing how they develop their skills as they progress through Heathcote Primary School.”

Jason Hearn, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said:

“We were very impressed with the entries we received from the pupils of Heathcote Primary School and we’d like to thank all of the children who took part in our competition.

“It was an extremely difficult decision choosing the winner, but we’d like to congratulate Tanishka on her personal and imaginative poems which stood out to us. Competitions such as these give David Wilson Homes a great opportunity to involve the local community, and it’s always as enjoyable for us as it is for the children participating.”
