BRITAIN is a nation lacking in hygiene when it comes to their home appliances, according to new research.

A survey of 1,015 UK adults carried out by leading household appliances retailer,, revealed an overwhelming 71% of those surveyed said they don’t regularly clean their home appliances.

When quizzed on how often Brits clean their home, the data revealed it is the washing machine which is cleaned the least. 

In fact, Britons clean the washing machine just once per year on average, according to the research.

Cleaning the oven came in second place, as respondents said they do this appliance twice per year.
