Married couple, Jo and James Druce-Harding (both aged 27) have realised their dream of owning their ‘forever’ home at Deanfield Meadow in Ducklington, Oxfordshire, thanks to the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.
Jo and James had been living in a three bedroom property in Witney for two years and really liked the area but after getting a dog, they decided they needed a house with a bigger garden and more space. They started to look around Witney at various properties and found a home they liked, but were unable to go ahead as their property hadn’t sold.
Jo comments, “After losing out on the property we wanted, we decided to continue to keep our house on the market, and weeks later we got a buyer. We started looking again and came across Deanfield Homes’ development, Deanfield Meadow in Ducklington.
“We arranged an appointment to view and the houses and development ticked all the boxes. It was just what we were looking for. The sales advisor mentioned the Government’s Help to Buy scheme. We had heard about it but I had just assumed we wouldn’t be eligible because of our incomes; we didn’t realise that it was based on the house price.
“After looking into it further we discovered that the Help to Buy scheme would allow us to increase our spending power and purchase the Dunsmore, a four bedroom detached home. The system was brilliant. We filled out the application form and they got back to us really quickly.
“If it hadn’t been for Help to Buy we would have had to buy a smaller property as a ‘stop gap’ and then think about moving again in a few years’ time, when we started a family. Now we have somewhere where we can stay for 15 to 20 years and raise a family.”
Jo and James have purchased a four bedroom Dunsmore house at Deanfield Meadow in Ducklington. Jo continues, “We are delighted with our new home at Deanfield Meadow. All the properties are really beautiful and built to a high specification. It also appealed to us that the homes are on a small development, in a stunning village setting and built by a smaller housebuilder.
“Our new home has spacious liveable areas and we love the fact that we have a garage and separate utility room. The village location is also ideal for us and there are great dog walks locally. It’s also really easy to get to work, with my job in Witney and James in Abingdon.
“Everyone at Deanfield Homes has been extremely helpful, taking us step by step through the whole process from reservation to completion and keeping us informed all the way.”
