An executive couple previous living in Oxfordshire have chosen the prime location of Milton Keynes for their next property move, achieving more for their money in a commuter hotspot that’s still within easy reach of London.
Natalie Thompson (25) and Luis Carless (30) recently moved to Barratt Homes’ Fen Street development Brooklands after seeking more space and a place they can truly put their own stamp on.
As both of them still work in London, as a Medical Copywriter and Technical Analyst respectively, they are enjoying easy access to great road and rail links making getting into work a breeze.
The couple, who are originally from Hertfordshire, now live in a four bedroom Cambridge style home with their dog Tesla and are enjoying being closer to their family and friends.
Now they can take advantage of becoming part of the flourishing new community at Brooklands, the couple have already recognised their surroundings as a great place to set down roots and start a family.
Natalie said: “We chose a new build Barratt home because we liked being able to choose the layout of the property, and enjoyed adding in little extras before it was finished.
“We liked to get our home the way we wanted it ASAP, and a lot of the other houses we looked at would have needed to be renovated, so a new build ended up being more cost effective.
“Brooklands was a perfect choice for us because it has great links to the M1 so it’s very quick to visit our friends and family, and also easy to get to the train station as we both work in London.
“Barratt Homes has a great reputation, and offered the best style of house which suited our lifestyle.”
Natalie and Luis used the government-backed Help to Buy scheme in conjunction with Barratt Homes’ Movemaker scheme, where they received a complimentary estate agency service with a free no obligation valuation on their existing home.
With the scheme, once a selling price has been agreed by the customer, Barratt Homes will then complete the Movemaker and instruct an estate agent to start selling your old home, free of charge, meaning there are no estate agent fees to pay at all. As soon as the property sells, the buyer is free to move in to their new home.
Natalie added: “We fell in love with the Cambridge as soon as we saw the show home, the layout downstairs suited us perfectly as we wanted both a study and a dining room.
“It's very easy to get to wherever you need from our property, and the development of the Square which will be finished later in the year will have all we need on our doorstep. There are also two schools - primary and secondary - within walking distance to us, which will be beneficial for us when we start a family.”
At Brooklands, there’s also plenty to do at the weekend, with Milton Keynes providing more than 5000 acres of parkland, lakes and rivers, it makes a perfect day out. For when residents want to shop, Kingston Shopping Centre is a short drive away and has a variety of restaurants, cafes and bars where residents can relax on days off.
