Redrow Case Study – Morello, Croydon

Steph Peatfield, 29, a first time buyer from Wimbledon, London, recently followed in her brother’s footsteps and purchased a brand new two bedroom apartment off plan at Morello, the upmarket new development by Redrow in Croydon. Currently living with her parents to save money, Steph is looking forward to moving out and being able to live independently.
Steph works as a Data Analyst for a marketing company based in the West End and will take the easy commute from Croydon every day. Morello is located in a prime location just a five-minute walk from East Croydon station, with trains running 24 hours a day into central London and up to 27 services an hour at peak times, meaning Steph’s commute will be easily manageable. London Bridge can also be reached in just 13 minutes and Victoria in 16 minutes.

Steph sees her first purchase as a home to live in long term, rather than just an investment, although she has hopes that the property’s value will keep up with the market in order for her to use the money to take the next step on the ladder when she eventually gets to that stage.

Steph comments: “The problem up until now has been ensuring that I am earning enough and in stable enough employment to pay a mortgage. Now that I’m comfortable that this is the case I’m ready to make the move.
“I was originally looking in areas closer to home such as South Wimbledon, Colliers Wood, Morden and Tooting, however I was finding it difficult to find something really nice within my budget. It was my brother who made me consider looking further afield. He bought the apartment below mine a few weeks before I purchased my own. He convinced me to visit the show flat so I went out of curiosity and thought it was really lovely. It made me reconsider my options and think a little further afield.

“I looked at a few ‘modern’ flats but hadn’t looked at any new build properties before visiting Morello. On arrival I was immediately impressed by the quality of the show apartment and the friendly and helpful sales team. The apartments offer good value for money considering the specifications, square footage and location.
“The local area has lots in the pipeline too, including Westfield which will come in handy and the brand new Box Park which has just opened.  There are good amenities nearby too – the town centre is buzzing with shops, bars and restaurants, with more on the way too. Croydon really seems to be on the up.”



Steph reserved her property approximately 18 months ahead of its completion date and is due to move in next winter.
