During their keen search for a family home, a couple moving to Bedfordshire discovered their dream property and were able to secure a place at a thriving community in Wixams.
Upsizing to a four bedroom property at David Wilson Homes’ development Willow Grove, Sergio (42) and Jane (44) Fowles found the perfect place to call home with their children Max (10) and Lucie (7), along with their Cocker Spaniel Rosie.
The couple, a director of an electrical contractors company and an administrator in the airline industry, moved from Stevenage to settle down in Wixams and benefit from the great sense of community.
Sergio said: “The local area is the perfect fit for us and the community at Wixams was a big factor in our decision to purchase a new home at Willow Grove.
“We have schools within a six minute walk, Max is part of a local scouts group and Lucie does karate at the nearby village hall.
“A large majority of residents here are families of a similar age group and a couple opposite across the street have children that go to the same school as ours. There’s a really nice community spirit here.”
After visiting Willow Grove on their hunt for a new home, Sergio and Jane took an instant liking to the varied styles of properties and are now reaping the benefits of owning a new build.
Sergio added: “We fell in love with the Holden style home, in particular the kitchen and dining area which is brilliant for spending time together as a family.
“A new build property was the clear choice for us. I’d spent the last 10 years doing DIY on our previous property but Jane and I were fed up of the work that was needed and wanted a home that was a finished product.
“My favourite part about coming home is having the driveway and the garage, where we have enough space for four cars. Our last house had on-street parking which made it very difficult if we’d been shopping because it was always really busy outside of our home.”
The couple took advantage of the government-backed Help to Buy scheme, purchasing their dream home with just a 5% deposit.
With this valuable scheme available, homebuyers can receive an equity loan of up to 20% of the full price of the property and won't have to pay any interest charges on this loan for the first five years, owning 100% of their own home from the start.
Alison Raine, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Northampton, said: “We’re thrilled to hear Sergio, Jane, Max and Lucie are enjoying their new home and making the most of a truly wonderful community in Wixams.
“It’s also great to learn they’ve been able to use the Help to Buy scheme to secure their family home, as it is a valuable asset for property seekers looking to secure their first home or upsize.
“We’d encourage anyone looking to stamp their name on a new home in Bedfordshire to visit us at Willow Grove and view the flourishing Wixams neighbourhood for themselves.”
Located on Southern Cross, Willow Grove currently has an extensive selection of three, four and five bedroom properties available with prices starting from £342,995.
