As the UK celebrates Rural Housing Week, a Staffordshire couple are preparing to move into their first home together with the help of the area's leading provider of affordable homes for rent and shared ownership.

Thanks to a partnership between Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) and a leading house builder, Stacey Robinson and fiancé William O'Hara now have the keys to a brand new, one-bedroomed apartment in the village of Eccleshall.

Stacey, 24, has lived most of her life in the area but she says she was facing a move away from family and friends due to the increasing cost of housing in and around the village.

Serving military personnel in Devon are being given extra help to get on – or move up – the housing ladder to prepare to celebrate Armed Forces Day.

Barratt Homes is pledging its support to local armed forces by giving them access to a dedicated buying scheme.

It comes as the five-star housebuilder – and people across the country in preperation for Armed Forces Day (June 30).

Barratt Homes is running an Armed Forces deposit contribution scheme which offers anyone who serves in the Army, Navy or RAF thousands of pounds off the cost of a property. The five-star housebuilder gives them a £500 discount for every £25,000 or part thereof on the cost of the property up to a maximum contribution of £5,000.

Barratt Homes Northampton raises more than £40,000 for cause close to home

Teenage Cancer Trust

Kind-hearted staff at Barratt Homes Northampton have raised more than £40,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust, following two years of continued fundraising efforts.

The well deserving charity was selected in 2016, after one of the division’s Bricklaying Apprentices was treated for Leukaemia on the Teenage Cancer Trust ward in Leicester.

Staff and subcontractors for the division have managed to raise a grand total of £41,471.55, with £8,000 being donated by parent company Barratt Developments PLC.

The fundraising efforts have included a charity gala event as well as dress down days in the office.

The money raised will go towards providing expert treatment and support to young people who are diagnosed with cancer.
